After a dismal 2011, NASCAR West Coast crown jewel of short track racing appears to be closing. With just over month left before racing is supposed to start, no schedule had been released. Now the L.A. Daily News is reporting that workers began dismantling the pit area grand stands over the weekend. Sources tell us that an announcement could come as early as Monday from NASCAR that the track will shut permanently. Built in 1999, Irwindale Speedway was called by many the finest short track in America. Stay tuned for up to date news as we get it.
