Dells Raceway was a much anticipated stop on our 2012 Tour mostly because an old acquaintance of mine, Wayne Lensing, had just purchased the track this year and I wanted to see what he did to it.
I was pleasantly surprised. Wayne took on this project, a near repossession by a bank, with a lot of energy and determination. We will detail the many improvements he has already made to the facilities, but suffice it to say, everything looked great, the crowd was impressive, and the race teams seemed very glad to be racing here.
I first met Wayne back in the mid-'90's and he hasn't changes a bit. Always looking for some way to improve his race cars (he owns Lefthander Race Cars) or add to his museum, he has the energy of someone years younger.
He loves short track racing and I believe he has fulfilled a long time dream by having his very own track to play with. We'll tell you the way he has done that in our upcoming article.
