It's Friday April 29st, so it must be Lernerville and the weather is not cooperating. It has been raining continually for some time, but it looks like we can get this race in...
The track manager Gary Risch went for it and did not cancel, and everyone was glad they did. This dirt track needed no additional water, just running in.
The rain stopped, the racers came by the dozens and what a show it was. The O'Reilly Midwest All Star Series came to town and brought 43 late models. There were also 26 DIRT Pro lates and 13 UMP modifieds for a total of 84 teams.
Of note: this track has no outer guard rails, and if the car goes off, it can easily come back on the track. I like that kind of design, it saves lots of front and rear ends.
The action was great and with all of the moisture, the track rutted up considerably. This added another dimension to the racing and the lead changed quite a few times. It was a very entertaining show and quite a few spectators showed up. We were just happy to be here.
