I had long wanted to visit this speedway and now is becomes a reality. It almost didn't happen, but the track management hung in there and racing got under way late...
Track promoter Jeff Nuckles runs a tight ship at Columbus. His persistence paid off with a very interesting and entertaining show. This track is a little larger than a 1/3 mile and flat.
Your car must be dead on in the setup in order to do well. It looked like the fastest and most consistent cars were on the springs and balanced, like we like it.
There was a serious crash with a car hitting the backstretch wall head on. The driver was not wearing his head and neck restraints, he owns two, and his son was furious. When are the track owners going to mandate these important safety items???
