I've been to Eldora for this race and the Dream several times. I always have to figure out the plot and how the winner gets it done. I doesn't hurt that I see lots of familiar faces in the process...
We drove the CT Tour bus into Eldora and were given prime parking, or so we thought. Turns out, we were the back stop for the Thursday night party and the hundreds of party go-ers were packed between the side of our bus and the stage where the band played...until 1:00AM.
It was all in good fun and we met lots of racers and fans and gave away many AMSOIL stickers, brochures and product information about Holley and CV Products, all of whom are our Tour sponsors.
The numbers of participants is down somewhat from what it was in the late '90's,. but still, over 160 entries is not bad. The Heats provided the most action, at least vewable action. When it came time for the B Main and the A Main race on Saturday, fog had rolled in and from my perch in turns 3 and 4, I could just see cars entering 3 and exiting 4.
Most of the action came on restarts or when the leaders were catching lapped traffic, and that can provide some great strategy and this is where experience plays a huge role More on who did well later on.
