What Ron Barfield has done with Dillon Motor Speedway is nothing short of amazing. He has resurected an old dirt track into one fine facility...
Face it, there are no NEW short tracks being born, or born again I should say. But Mr. Barfield has defied the odds and taken on the task of building one of the finest race tracks we've seen.
What once was a dirt track that had grown into a forest of sorts over many years of non-use was turned into Rons dream track, an ASA Sanction racing facility.
In a region where we see race tracks closing up, this one re-opened in 2007 and is now in it's third season with no stopping it in sight. And he did it without a wad of cash, on a budget of sorts, saving up building materials and buying used lighting and the track scoreboard.
We'll be discussing Ron's success more in future articles of Circle Track, but for now, we're heading home.
