We recently have criticized dirt tracks where there are no straightaways. Cars that can run wide open all the way around don't provide much passing action, and that is bad for racing. Paducah is an exception...
Paducha Int. Raceway is one track where the design is right for action. The back and front straights are straight and make the cars have to turn off of turns two and four.
What this does is affect both the entry and exit. To be good, your car must be straight in order to accelerate. Some of the cars were setup right and some not so right. It showed big time as the race progressed.
Promoters and track owners take note, if your track is egg shaped, you can bring in the walls to make the straights,,,well,,, straight. It will make a huge improvement in your racing action for the benefit of the competitors and the fans.
