Salem Speedway has history that means something in the Mid-west. It is said if you can do well here, you can do well anywhere. We agree...
It was a day of sprint car racing at Salem Speedway in Salem, IN. the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Series cars without wings were there along with the MSR Xtreme Sprints with wings.
It is always exciting to watch sprint car race and this was no exception. With the high banks at Salem, the race was on. As is always the case, handling played an important part in each cars performance.
For sprint cars, the ones that wiggled less or not at all ran up front. If you've never been to Salem, turns 3 and 4 is special. The banking down on the lower half of the track is as high as turns 1 and 2, about 14 to 16 degrees.
But as you enter turn 3, the track changes and the top half goes up to about 20 to 25 degrees of banking and if you have the experience and nerve to run the top groove, you go fast. It was fun to watch and we had a blast.
The track is one of the best maintained we've seen and all in all, it was a very successful event for us and the track.
