We're here at Carolina Speedway just outside Charlotte and man are we glad to be at a dirt track...
We have visited some very nice race tracks and gained a lot of insight into short track racing in the Southeast region of the US. But we had not been to a dirt track yet.
Winchester was supposed to be our first dirt venue, but it rained out. Now we are doing two dirt races, in a row, back to back, today and tomorrow.
We will be checking out the action at Cherokee Speedway for the Saturday night show, but for now, we're here at Carolina and set for some serious action.
Just three weeks ago, the USAC Sprint cars ran and the track had a record, blow-out crowd that had to be limited because of lack of parking. The police literally shut down the parking lot and filled the pasture across the street. More later.
