I traveled down here to check out the ASA Transcontinental Series' Free State 500 at Phikasa Freeway in Welkom, South Africa. Welkom is in the center of the country in an area populated by gold mines, large farms and truthfully the landscape reminds a lot of Iowa. The track itself is a 1.5 mile banked racetrack that was based on Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
