We watched as Marty and Dalton Zehr ran their new test car at New Smyrna Speedway. The car, sans a body, is one unique looking machine.
Marty and Dalton saw a need to observe the various parts and pieces of their race car and be able to make quick, unobstructed, changes to springs, shocks or other setup parameters without having to work around the body.
So, they came up with this idea, remove the body so that they could make observations and changes easily. They added weight to end up with the exact weight distribution and total weight as if the car had the body installed.
The only thing missing was the aero effect, but for evaluating mechanical grip, it is probably a plus to not have the aero affecting the performance.
This will be the very same car we will test our Green Racing CT525 motor in for our ontrack testing program later on. This platform allows us to install and monitor all of the testing equipment to record emissions, accelerations, horsepower and more. We will have a lot to report with this project.
