In the very first Modified race run at Bristol, team number 4 with driver Donnie Lia comes home a winner...
It was a sweet ending for the first race at Bristol for team owner of the number 4 Whelen Modified car, Bob Garbarino.
After taking it easy running in the fourth position, rain clouds showed up and everyone had to get busy with the work at hand. Lia overtook third and then second. Working Teddy Christopher was a bit harder and he had to blow the chrome horn several times to get by.
Then is was just hang on as he opened up a sizeable gap to the field. The car was on a rail and showed it. He never once whiggled or got loose, something almost every other car did. Congratulation to Bob and the crew for a fine job of setting up that car. We hope the Modifieds can return to Bristol again.
