Well, that didn't take long. The F1 Championship is back to one. The gold ruled and the FIA, the Nascar of F1, backed down on their plans to limit spending in F1. Here is what went down...
If the FIA had not backed down in this confrontation, then the major eight teams of the Formula One Teams Association, or FOTA, would have removed themselves from the series and formed their own championship next year.
Major venues would have gone along with that and hosted the FOTA teams and not the current F1 because there would have been no major drivers or teams on the new F1 roster top sell to the advertisers. Monaco was one of those, and is considered the Daytona 500 or the Indy 500 of F1 races.
So, Max Mosely, the head of FIA for some 16 years will step down at the end of his contract year in October and the ones with the gold will rule. This makes perfect sense in the grand scheme of things, especially in the world of F1.
How that relates to circle track racing can only be imagined. But the overtones are there. For each and every series that runs in the US, there is the fact that the teams totally support the racing. Without them, racing would pass away. So, treat your race teams with respect and understanding all you promoters, or else.
