I recently did an article on the Metric stock car technology and man did I get a response. Those guys are really into those cars. Here is what I learned...
First of all, the Metric race teams have a passion for racing those cars. I talk to racers running all of the classes on a weekly basis, but I doubt I have seen more enthusiasm than I have seen in the past week.
Here is where it all exploded. I offered a free calculator for finding the rear roll center, uh I mean moment center, height so they could play with the angles and maybe lower it. The idea was to make the rear more compliant and less stiff. That would have the effect of providing more rear bite both in the turns and off the corners.
No doubt I will get lots of response once those (124 by the last count) teams get to using the calculator and changing the angles, etc. I'm just glad they are paying attention and thinking, the one thing we try to get racers to do here with Circle Track magazine.
