The recent ban on certain Hoosier tires in the Lucas Oil Late Model Series has been lifted.
Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Officials are re-instating the HOOSIER LM40 and RIB 1600s that will PUNCH 60. LOLMDS Officials have worked with many of our teams to insure the usage of tires that will punch 60.
The LOLMDS is grateful for the time off this past week. This allowed LOLMDS Officials to search for a common denominator with these tires. We have punched and tested these tires and have we found them clear of tire prep/treatment. However, there were still tires that would not punch after buffing and at track like conditions. Example: Heat and or heat cycles etc.
The LOLMDS does not want to be unfair and create unjustifiable work, especially for any team racing with tires that punch according the LOLMDS rulebook.
This has been a learning experience for our teams and the LOLMDS. LOLMDS Officials are gaining knowledge that continues to elevate the LOLMDS tire policing policies. LOLMDS Officials are persistent about the policing of tires. Tires are strictly policed; and information is gathered to help all teams perform on a level field of competition each week.
