There is trouble brewing in F1 these days. What does that have to do with us, you ask? Well here is one take on it that might have far reaching consequences...
In a short explanation, F1 is divided on its future. And, recent rules changes combined with a percieved lean towards certain teams has turned the 2008 finishing order upside down in this years championship chase. The then top teams in F1 are irrate to say the least.
Eight out of the ten teams think it is time to change the way the sport is governed enough to break away and start another championship. Their thinking is centered around the fact that they have poured Billions of dollars into F1 and should have final authority into the rules making decisions. That seems to make sense.
Other sancions take note. If you protect your teams by enacting sensible rules and if you allow your competitors to participate in the making of the rules, then you are probably OK. If you don't, look out. The race teams in most motorsports contribute (pay without payback) many thousands of dollars to fill the fields and that brings in dollars from fans attendance as well as TV viewers if the group is lucky to have that.
It's like the Golden Rule, those with the gold rule. This will be interesting to watch to see what happens, as this might be the end of Formula One as we know it.
