A hot day at Myrtle Beach shows promise for our USAR Pro Cup series project car.
I will be the first to admit one of the worst tracks on the circuit for me is Myrtle Beach. But with the help from our new crew chief Jody Lavender and the guys from CCI. We had got our project car to where we were pretty competitive in practice at the Beach. The car qualified fifteenth only .19 from the top 5. But once the green flag dropped we knew we had a problem. The car was bottoming out so bad on the right front, it was traveling so much that it actually almost rubbed a hole in the top of the right front fender.
Needless to say it made the car a handful to drive. We ended the promising day with a 13th place finish. We will be diagnosing the problem in the next couple of days. I'm quite confident that it will either be a shock problem, or a sway bar problem. I've had this happen once before with a late model and what happened was the teeth on the sway-bar arm had worn completely off, and any time the car would travel it would just roll over on the RF. The next on the USAR Schedule is the short track at Lanier National Speedway.
